automotique . Toyota Yaris 2012  Test Drive  subcompact class is one in which you can expect a lot of emotions or ornaments. Subcompact cars occupy the bottom rung of the ladder in the automotive, designed especially for consumers who want more than basic transportation. Both Toyota (Yaris) and Nissan (Versa) are fielding completely new offering in the segment for 2012 and are prepared to fight each other in the field of bargain. Nissan is targeting those who really short of cash, leaving the team in Toyota City to target a bit higher with a greater presence of sport-infused Yaris. Well, that was unexpected. We are looking at the newly generated table of specifications for the 2012 Toyota Yaris before us, and our eyes glide across the table from 0-60 mph acceleration as omniscient. The current Yaris brand reaches 60 mph in 9.1 seconds - with the transfer of 1.5-liter four-cylinder five-speed manual transmission.

the third generation of small cars from Toyota - the first generation is called the echo here in the U.S. - Sold as a hatchback only, the outgoing Yaris seen a high rate of absorption for the liftback which led to the disappearance of the sedan. Toyota expects the new Yaris will appeal to tech-savvy customers who make some sacrifices in your life, but also appreciating the value of a dollar. Through a marketing campaign for 100 percent digital on the web sites of worship, such as I Can Has Cheezburger and Funny or Die, Toyota is looking to attract new Yaris subcompact buyers seeking a sportier touch .

We would like to clarify. The 2012 Yaris SE, most of the added attraction to the growing brood size B Yaris is offered only as a five-door hatchback. The last monster Toyota differs from the address list with firmer front springs are 20 percent stiffer than the original, and face the disc brake rotors are 0.8 inches larger than your other brothers new Yaris. Also the rear discs. The SE Yaris is more energetic, thanks to its metal retouched and revised interior, and the SE-specific 16-inch aluminum alloy 195/50-16 Bridgestone Turanza tires help the cause, too. Many of the globular Yaris hatches and sedans you see on the backbone of the road today in 14-inch steelies.

Is the sportiest Yaris?

For the most part, no, but Toyota has tried to instill a more driver-oriented feel. First was the removal of the pod center-mounted gauge. Now located just in front of the driver, the dashboard is based on a large circular speedometer and comes in two flavors: orange illuminated white-on graphite marks in the levels of L and LE, or red numbers on the dials of silver a tachometer for the SE.

An important part of trying to move the bar above the basic transport was the addition of the superior court of the range SE. Similar to what is seen in the Corolla and Camry large models, the SE adds more aggressive front and rear, a dark gray interior, revised suspension and steering, sixteen-inch alloy wheels and rear disc brakes. The additional kit, however, does little to improve ride and handling compared to lower levels of adjustment, and regardless of the configuration, the electric power steering feels disconnected from the wheels and artificially overboost.

The engine is a remnant - the 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine produces 106 hp and the same 103 lb-ft of torque as it did in the previous Yaris. Also lead to the 2012 model year offerings are the four-speed manual five-speed automatic transmission. As before, the 1.5-liter often feel overwhelmed by any kind of acceleration. Toyota says it has chosen to continue using the four-speed automatic to help increase driver feel, the automaker says that the automatic transmissions of five and six-speed used by their competitors have to shoot down one or two gears for the passage of roads, dropping fuel economy and make driving uncomfortable feeling. However, we found that the Yaris is also necessary to topple a reason or two, when all slopes was present or when an overtaking maneuver is requested. We recommend the manual transmission, where the driver is fully in charge of selecting gears.
Estimated fuel economy for the manual-equipped Yaris is up to one mile per gallon in the city and two on the road, at 30/38 mpg. The Yaris automatic gain 1 mpg in the city and is rated at 30/35 mpg. These figures are still just below the magical 40 miles per gallon than most manufacturers have been devoting a compact fuel efficiency, however.

Now that is a better sprinter, SE Yaris also ends the quarter mile faster. Just 17 seconds after an expressive sound of the front tires, the little hatchback has covered 1320 meters, trapping 80.1 mph in the process. It is very fast in a broader sense, but the time of the SE, is still 0.8 seconds faster than the 2010 car. Performance improvements were also obtained in the figure of eight as lap of 28.4 seconds from the SE-most agile average is 0.58 g surpasses its predecessor with a strong automatic-equipped 1.2 seconds. Braking also takes a turn for the better, with single-piston folders so that the SE to a standstill from 60 mph in 120 feet. Always the good sport to put up with this brief compare / contrast, our old 2010 Yaris need an extra 6 feet to stop all forward momentum.

How do they compare to the competition?
The Yaris is not the cheapest car in the segment, nor is it the most fuel efficient or better equipped. What it does have the rest of the field is style - the Yaris is arguably the most attractive offer in the segment. (. Until 2012 Kia Rio comes, of course) The design is constantly evolving, it still looks like the next-generation Yaris, but with a more butch. A strong Y-shaped grille, a large lower air intake, and the fog rose sharply define the front. A sloping C-pillar - leaning forward in the three-door model and triangular in the five-door - towers over the short term. A character line angles upward just behind the cutting gate, runs through the door handles, and ends at the top of the taillights. A short rear overhang, a wide hatch and inverted L-shaped reverse lights and turn signals add to the sportier look of the Yaris 2012.

the instrument panel has turned away from the center console, dashboard whole design has taken a side in comparison with the tower of cascading from the latest Yaris. A soft touch rubber material through the script and the upper two panels of the doors (L base models do not get the soft touch panel, but fine-grained plastic trim feels almost as good as the material greater degree). The climate controls protrude from under the radio head unit in its own sheath and are easily accessible to the driver. Two sound systems are available: the L system receives AM / FM / CD with four speakers and USB / AUX with a simple and intuitive interface. The LE and SE models get a more advanced six-speaker system, which also includes HD radio, Bluetooth phone connectivity and music streaming, iPod interface, steering wheel-mounted controls and a rotary controller exasperating confused with a directional pad.
Toyota has also increased the competition in terms of safety with nine standard airbags. The most interesting of these are the two main seat cushion, air bags, which help to stabilize the position of the driver and front passenger in the event of an accident.
